Half-Scale McLaren MP4/4 Display Model
This 1:2 scale model is said to have been built for the seller in Europe and constructed in the style of a McLaren MP4/4 Formula One race car driven to a World Driver’s Championship title by Ayrton Senna during the 1988 season. It features fiberglass bodywork with a white and red Marlboro livery, black wheels, Goodyear-branded tires, faux suspension components and side mirrors, a fixed-back seat, faux seat belts, and a three-spoke steering wheel.
Debuting at the 1988 Brazilian Grand Prix, the McLaren Mp4/4 was designed by Steve Nichols and powered by Honda. It was driven to wins and pole positions in 15 out of 16 races that year by drivers Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, securing both the Driver’s and Constructors’ Championships.
This 1:2 scale replica of Senna’s #12 car was constructed using fiberglass and carbon fiber, and it wears a white and red McLaren Formula One Team livery with sponsor logos including Marlboro, Shell, Honda, and Tag Heuer. Features consist of front and rear wings, a roll hoop, a rear diffuser, side pods, radio antennas, and side mirrors with faux lenses. The seller notes the replica weighs approximately 66 pounds and measures 37″ wide and 86″ long.
Black-finished multi-spoke wheels are wrapped in rubber tires decorated to resemble Goodyear racing slicks with white lettering. The replica suspension is comprised of black double-wishbones with push- and pull-rods.
The cockpit houses a fixed-back seat, faux red seat belts, a carbon-fiber dashboard with faux instrumentation decals, and a black three-spoke steering wheel.
