1982 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 Diesel
This 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 remained with the initial owner in Colombia for an extended period of time, and it was imported to the US in 2022. The vehicle underwent a refurbishment, and it is powered by a 3.0-liter B diesel inline-four linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is finished in yellow and has 16″ steel wheels, manually locking front hubs, a beige soft top, a rear-mounted spare tire, and inward-facing rear seats trimmed in gray upholstery. The truck has been refinished in yellow, and it has a beige soft top with roll-up side windows along with a vented hood, dual side-view mirrors, a rear step, and ambulance-style rear doors. The front door weatherstripping was replaced in May 2024. A hinge is missing from the left rear door.
Gray 16″ steel wheels are wrapped in Goodyear CHM189 tires, and a spare is mounted to a rear swing-out carrier. A June 2024 invoice notes that the wheels are bent, and the seller notes that they have been subsequently straightened. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs and rides on Monroe shocks.
The split front bench seat and inward-facing rear jump seats are trimmed in gray upholstery with contrast stitching, and color-coordinated trim extends to the floor and door panels. A radio blanking plate is housed in the dashboard, and three-point seat belts are fitted up front.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-km/h speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The six-digit odometer does not work and shows 234k kilometers (~145k miles). Total mileage is unknown
The 3.0-liter B diesel inline-four was serviced with replacement fuel injectors in May 2024, and the radiator was repaired at that time. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. A textured finish has been applied to underbody surfaces.
Various documents such as service records will accompany the truck along with a Toyota Distributor Limited certificate that lists colors, engine and chassis numbers, and an initial sale date of August 27, 1982.
The New Jersey title lists the model as B54 and the body type as a four-door.
