1967 Mercury Monterey Convertible

This 1967 Mercury Monterey is one of 2,673 two-door convertibles produced for the model year, and it is said to have remained with its original owner until 2005. The current owner’s uncle acquired it at that time, and it has only been driven ~300 miles since 2014. Finished in yellow over black vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 390ci v8 linked to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated soft top, an AM radio, 15” wheels, power steering, and front disc brakes. The water pump has been replaced since the current owner’s acquisition in 2020.

The car left the factory finished in Yellow (8) and features a black soft top and boot. Details include a segmented grille, quadruple headlights, side moldings, and vertical polygonal taillights. The seller notes a tear in the soft top, which is shown up close in the image gallery below along with clouding in the rear window and dings on the right-front corner.

The 15” steel wheels wear full covers and are wrapped in 225/75 Gremax Max 5000 narrow-whitewall tires with 2013 production date codes. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

Black vinyl upholstery covers the bench seating. A push-button AM radio has been retained in the factory location. The seller notes cracks in the dashboard pad and driver’s armrest, and split seams on the upholstery are shown up close in the gallery.

The steering wheel has a cracked rim and frames a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles. The 390ci V8 is equipped with polished valve covers and an Edelbrock air cleaner lid. The water pump is said to have been replaced under current ownership.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a C6 three-speed automatic transmission and a rear end with 2.75:1 gearing. Corrosion is visible on underbody components, which can be viewed in the gallery.
